Irish chef and restaurant owner based in Japan, Alan Fisher, has broken the Guiness Cooking World Record with the longest cookathon of 119 hours, 57 minutes, as against Hilda Baci’s 93 hours, 11 minutes record, which was achieved in May this year.
According to the Guinness World Records, Alan earned himself two world records; longest cooking marathon (individual) after clocking 119 hours and 57 minutes of cooking, which is more than 24 hours longer than the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, and the longest baking marathon (individual), with a time of 47 hours and 21 minutes. The previous record holder was Wendy Sandner (USA), with a time of 31 hours and 16 minutes.
Alan is said to have clocked both achievements on back-to-back work in the kitchen, which is, in total, 160 hours behind heat with only a day’s rest interval.
Guinness World Records have recognized various other activities that seek to break the world’s ordinary, and in the cooking fraternity, Lata Tondon, an Indian, first broke the world cookathon with a time of 87 hours and 45 minutes. She was recently dethroned by Nigeria’s Hilda Baci with 93 hours and 11 minutes of cooking.
