Luis Diaz’s father freed by kidnappers- Colombian Football Federation confirms

Liverpool and Colombian forward, Luis Daiz has finally got his father released from the hands of kidnappers who had both his mother and father captive but later released his mother.

Luis Daiz father, Mr. Manuel Luis Daiz has been kept captive in the hands of the kidnappers for months. special forces embarked on a search on the country’s mountain range. The Colombian police offered a £39,000 ($48,000) reward for any information around the situation.

Mother of Luis Daiz, Cilenis Marulanda was also kidnapped in the incident but she was rescued within hours after police set up roadblocks.

During the weekend Luis Daiz scored a late goal to clinch a point for Liverpool away to Luton, he later paid homage to his father who was in the hands of the kidnappers.

After the release of Luis Daiz’s father, the Colombian FA released a statement saying; “The Colombian Football Federation thanks the National Government, the Military Forces and the National Police, as well as all the institutions and officials that made the release of Luís Manuel Díaz, father of our player Luís Díaz, possible”
