In an interview with an Accra-based Media house, the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah disclosed that, the budget is positioned to achieve balance within the economy.
He said, the Finance Minister has outlined some measures within the budget that will yield some level of fiscal balance during a discussion with Cabinet ahead of the presentation, .
He made these pronouncements when he was asked if the Budget will bring comfort to the business community or rather increase the hardship people are already experiencing.
“The overall objective is to ensure that the cost of living, cost of doing business and inflation is contained and reduced. Therefore whatever tax reliefs you want to continue with should be designed to achieve its purpose. Whatever revenue measures you want to introduce should be such that they do not reverse the overall objective that you are trying to achieve and that’s the balance the Minister of Finance is trying to achieve with the Budget”, Mr Oppong Nkrumah said.
He noted that, the budget contains some tax relief continuities and revenue allocation measures that will help in the attainment of the economic balance the country needs.
