To help encourage regular medical check-ups among the Ghanaian populace, the Kairos Development Mission (KADEM), has held a health screening for pupils of His Majesty Christian School and residents of Asamankese in the Upper Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The participants were screened for conditions such as hypertension, eye, heart, and liver-related diseases, among others. This is to help pre-emptively prevent premature deaths that are caused by preventable diseases.
The Medical Director of KADEM, Dr. Stephen Addai, noted in an interview that it is medically recommended to check babies at birth; however, advanced countries check regularly the health conditions of children from zero to 18 months.
This, according to him, help to institute measures that will not worsen their health conditions.
According to him, medically screening pupils in schools will help prevent conditions that can derail their health. Dr. Addai added that health conditions that are picked up from the screening will be transferred to the hospital for further investigations.
He spoke on the need for regularly checking one’s health status. The Founder and President of KADEM, Apostle Dr. James McKeown Quainoo, explained that the health screening is their own way of helping reduce premature death among the Ghanaian Populace.
He further indicated that their presence at Asamankese is also to create awareness and encourage other Ghanaians in the diaspora to support their charity work.
