The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), in collaboration with the Passport Application Centres in Accra, has successfully uncovered and prosecuted three foreign nationals for engaging in identity fraud with the intention of acquiring Ghanaian passports.

The individuals, Akanni Saheed, Tiamiyu Abdullahi, and Raji Latifat, were identified during routine investigations at the Passport Application Centres.

A statement from the Corporate Affairs Directorate of the National Identification Authority (NIA), said upon referral to the Ghana Immigration Service Headquarters, thorough investigations revealed that the suspects had fraudulently obtained Ghana cards.

It said the individuals were arraigned before Court, convicted, and fined.

The statement said the Court has since ordered their repatriation.

The Ghana particular cards associated with these individuals will be cancelled, and their names will be promptly expunged from the National Identity Register. The statement encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities related to identity fraud to the appropriate authorities.
