Dreams FC gave a good account of themselves by beating their Angolan opponents Academica Do Lobito 2-3 away from home, establishing themselves in the group.
“The Still Believe Boys” are gradually becoming familiar with the CAF Confederation Cup, achieving their second victory in the competition, weeks after beating Nigeria’s Rivers United 2-1.
Dreams FC opened their account in the 10th minute, when Abdul Aziz Issah found the back of the net. The lead didn’t last for long, as Academica Do Lobito’s defender, Joao Valonga Basilio Barros, immediately equalised.
The Ghana FA Champions had other plans to get their lead back when striker John Antwi showcased his scoring abilities, putting Dreams FC ahead once again to make it 1-3. His goal was followed up with another goal by Aholou Gael Avocevou, which gave Dreams FC some upper hand over Academica Do Lobito.
The home side came into the game by grabbing a second goal to stage a comeback, but that wasn’t enough to earn them their first point in the CAF Confederation Group Stage campaign.
Academica Do Lobito will visit Kumasi for their matchday four fixture against Dreams FC, who will also be looking to cement their position in the group with a victory.
