YEA launches Business and Employment Assistance Programme

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) launched the Business and Employment Assistance Programme on Monday 11th December, 2023 to help reduce the unemployment rate in the country.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency, Kofi Baah Agyepong explained to Ghanaians the importance of the launch of the Business and Employment Assistance Programme. He stated that, the programme is here to help business owners who find it difficult to pay their workers.

Kofi Baah Agyepong further urged all business owners like carpenters, electricians, shop owners, Chop bar operators, etc, to willingly employ the youth without bearing any cost of paying them because his office, the Youth Employment Agency will take care of that.

“The Business and Employment Assistance Programme is here to support 10,000 small and medium scale enterprises. Within this initiative, 20,000 youths will be deployed to those enterprises,”said Kofi Baah Agyepong.

He said the initiative will be sustained through partnerships with relevant government agencies to streamline administrative processes, secure necessary approvals and align with broader economic policies. He added that arrangements with partner banks and financial institutions have been made to facilitate timely dispersement of supply.
