Ghana Women’s Champion, Apem Darkoa faced a very unfortunate and bizarre situation as their club house got destroyed my fire on Friday, 22nd December, 2023 at their headquarters in Techiman.
Reports suggest that, several items were lost and destroyed by this unforeseen incident. The items lost were money, passports, football jerseys and Laptops. Apem Darkoa who recently arrived from Côte d’Ivoire weren’t expecting this after a brilliant campaign in the Champions League, finishing fourth.
Apem Darko’s games against Tamale Super Ladies and Kumasi Sports Academy in the Women’s Premier League match day 8 and 9 respectively, have been postponed due to this bizarre incident.
The situation has caught the attention of the public and netizens including the Ghana Football Association, who have already extended their support to the team to help resolve the situation as soon as possible.
The coach of the side, Joe Nana Adarkwa expressed his utter displeasure with this tragic incident and hoped the situation would get a quick resolution soon.
“As for what caused the fire outbreak, I cannot tell, and it is yet to be disclosed. Investigations are underway to determine the root cause of the fire”; said Joe Nana Adarkwa.
He added that the club management are doing everything possible to provide the affected victims with immediate support whereby plans are being put in place to recover their lost assets.
