Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Professor Amin Alhassan, visited the Modern City Hotel in Tamale to support Chef Faliatu during Cook-A-Thon Day 6.

He stated that Faliatu’s attempt to break the Guinness Book of Records for the longest cooking by a chef is an initiative that creates room for people of different ethnicity to come together and live peacefully, especially during this period which happens to be an election year.

Following Faliatu’s extension of her cooking marathon from 140 to 240 hours, notable figures such as the NPP’s running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and comedian SDK have come to support her.

Professor Amin Alhassan emphasized, “Faliatu has demonstrated through her initiative that we have more in common than our differences. I have seen various ethnic groups that have recently threatened each other, and many ethnic groups have performed to demonstrate that there’s something more common amongst us than what divides us. And I think that this is a very beautiful thing.”

He also commented on the uniqueness of northern Ghana, stating, “We have shown the world shades of northern cultures. I have seen dances from Upper East, Upper West, dances from North East, dances from Savanna, and dances from the Northern Region itself.”

“This simply shows that there’s a lot we can show to the world. There’s a lot we can offer, and I think.”
