Tennis Legend, Rafael Nadal will miss out on the Australian Open due to injury. The Spanish sports Icon incurred a hip injury in his involvement in the Brisbane International. He will return to Spain for further treatment.

Rafael Nadal has been sidelined with injury in for over a year as he recently got back to action a few weeks ago, taking part in Brisbane International, winning his first two matches in straight sets.

Nadal disclosed that, the injury is not at the same part as his last injury which kept him out for a long time. He added that a scan has shown a micro tear his muscle which the result was a good one but he wasn’t ready to compete at his lowest.

“I have worked very hard during the year for this comeback and as I always mentioned my goal is to be at my best level in three months. Despite the sad news for me for not being able to play in front of the amazing Melbourne crowds, this is not very bad news and we all remain positive about the evolution for the season,” said Rafael Nadal.

Rafael Nadal will now shift his attention to the French Open with the Australian Open already being disrupted with his latest injury report. The Australian Open is slated to begin on 14 January 2024. While the French Open will start on 20 May 2024.

Nadal ever since slipping to 672nd in the rankings has made it a point to come back strong and claim his spot as one of the very best again on the world rankings. The Australian Open could have been a better where to start with, but eventually, injury came again.
