The Bongo District in the Upper East Region would soon have a Model Girls School to train girls and mentor them to grow into responsible citizens.
A three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities is under construction for this purpose. This is by kind courtesy of the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) Project.
Work on the school project at the Dagliga Community is advancing steadily and is expected to be completed in the next few months. The District Chief Executive for Bongo, Madam Rita Atanga told GBCNews that;
“The school project is among six other projects under SOCO in the District. We have spread the projects around the District so that everyone would benefit. Because of the social cohesion aspect of it, we want everyone to be part and to benefit.”
Madam Rita expressed satisfaction that work on the bridge linking Bogrogo junction to the Dua community is also progressing steadily.
“That road was opened by me last year, because, from Bongo to Bogrogo junction there’s no link road to Dua. So we decided to construct that road. After opening it we realized that it was not accessible, especially in the rainy season. So this bridge will help make it accessible to commuters.’’ Madam Rita explained.
The contractor working on the school’s block Nuzala Felix of Makoso Enterprise complained that money for unskilled labor was not readily available for the workers and this is affecting progress of work.
However, the DCE promised that resources were going to be made available to the contractor in the next week so that he could execute his work without any hindrance.
