The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Dome Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region for the upcoming general election, Faustina Elikplim Akurugu has said, her chances to win the seat are very clear as she vowed to snatch the seat from the NPP’s Sarah Adwoa Safo.
Elikplim Akurugu has received a nod for the second on the party’s ticket and she is promising to pull a surprise by hard work because, “I have marketed myself very well enough and this time round by his Grace people will vote for me”.
Madam Akurugu who was speaking at the launching ceremony to open new campaign office at Haatso described the performance of the current NPP Member of Parliament for the area, Sarah Adwoa Safo, in the constituency as unsatisfactory and also referred to her as “our miss in action MP”, said, “I have a lot to offer my people when given the opportunity and my chances are very high looking at the situation in the camp of the current MP. I will beat whoever emerges after their upcoming primaries. I’m ready to beat him or anybody who comes victorious.
Faustina Elikplim Akurugu says she is the best person to win the seat from the NPP following her exploits in the constituency.
“Today, the constituency under the leadership of the NPP MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has regressed instead of progressing.
“For one to be effective in the House, it depends on the person’s lobbying skills, courage and the relationship he or she will have with the fellow MPs. Then for you to be made part of the various Committees, it also depends on the person’s background,” she added
According to her, “I understand the challenges and basic needs of the people, that is why I want the opportunity to demonstrate my ability and network to the people by bringing development and alleviating poverty”.
The National Chairman of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia on his part called for peace and love among NDC supporters in the area as he promised to join Elikplim for her campaign for victory.
