The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars.
The FA also mentioned via their website that the technical team has also been dissolved.
This follows Ghana’s exit from the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), where Ghana exited the tournament with two points, drawing 2-2 with Egypt and Mozambique, respectively, and losing 1-2 to Cape Verde.
The Ghana FA said they will, in the coming days, provide a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars.
Many say Chris Hughton has not added any value to the Black Stars since he took up the job when Otto Addo resigned after a shambolic World Cup campaign in Qatar.
Chris Hughton took charge of the Black Stars in February 2023.
During his tenure, he led the team to five wins and two draws in his first eight games, securing qualification for the AFCON.
The 65-year-old initially joined the FA in February 2022 as a technical advisor and worked alongside head coach Otto Addo.
