In the build up to tenter the ballot box to cast their votes in pursuit of the leader of the country. One of the key factors that will inform decisions is the issue of the country’s economic stability.

Over three decades since Ghana embarked on the fourth democratic journey, Independent Presidential candidate, Dr. Sam Ankrah posits that, none of the successive governments have been able to address the economic woes of the country. He believes the repetition of the two dominant political parties has not helped improve the economic situation that the country is plagued in.

Speaking on Joy Fm’s Personality profile, the Global Economist mentioned, the failure of successive governments since the return to the fourth republic is the more reason Ghanaians should try a new force.

Dr. Ankrah explained that there is a stereotype that all politicians are corrupt, but that does not affect him because he does not consider himself a politician, although he has held various positions in his career.

“The idea that all politicians are the same to some extent does not apply to me, but if you look at where I am coming from, what I have to lay on the table to be able to do what I am doing clearly should give people an insider that there is a different kind of politics coming in; here is a person who has sacrificed a lot to get into the field to help support nation-building”, he said.

According to him, Ghana as a nation is so much dependent on foreign goods and imports and that is the major cause of our economic instability. He stressed that, the more reason we are easily affected by a shift in external economic affairs is that there is no locally built economy.

” This country needs a locally built economy, and we need stability. This is what I am promising Ghanaians”, he added.

He further said that it is impossible to develop the nation in an unstable environment, hence the need to stabilize the economy to give confidence to the market.
