E/R: John Mahama promises to strengthen Office of Special Prosecutor

The Former President and Flagbearer of the NDC, John Mahama says, his next government will maintain and strengthen the Office of the Special Prosecutor in the fight against corruption.

He said the office together with other institutions are key in the fight against corruption. Mr. Mahama said he will ensure that adequate resources are given to the office to execute its mandate effectively. Mr. Mahama was addressing members of the clergy as part of his “Building Ghana We Want” tour of the Eastern region.

On free SHS and E-Blocks, Mr. Mahama said the next NDC government will continue where it left off and still stand by his Progressive Free SHS and the need to review the current free SHS policy.

On election violence, Mahama urged the clergy and other religious bodies to get involved in governance issues to make the country a better place for all citizens.

Mr. Mahama added that his government when re-elected would find new ways of fighting corruption.

Stating that he will make sure the institutions responsible for fighting corruption will go after officials who are found culpable regardless of the party they belong too.

He stressed the need to strengthen the Asset declaration regime to make sure that assets declared by officials are in order.
