Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Anim has made a passionate appeal for institutions to collaborate and effectively use data. This, he said, is the only way growth can be sustained to achieve economic development.
Speaking at a stakeholder engagement on the National Partnership to Harness the Power of Data for Development, Professor Anim said Ghana’s policy documents have been misaligned to a large extent, hence the need to design policies with statistical targets.
He added that failure to use data will lead to failure in policy documents. This is why Ministries, Departments, and Agencies are attending the 2-day forum in order to make better use of data and evaluate policies.
In a submission, the Head of Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, emphasised the role of administrative data, saying it leads to transparency and accountability.
