The Volta FA Chairman, Daniel Agbogah, has advised District Football Association (DFA) Chairmen to appoint and form a working team devoid of friendship at the swearing-in ceremony of the District FA Chairmen in Ho, the Volta Regional capital, on Friday, February 9, 2024.

He emphasised that he is not saying that friends who are knowledgeable and passionate should not be engaged, but rather that it is important that the districts insist on the best practices that will develop grassroots football in the Volta Region.

“Please, I advise you to engage in best practices and be  mindful of who you appoint or engage to work at District FA. Kindly take into consideration people of passion and sporting knowledge, and not people based on friendship. We must strive to ensure District Football in our regions moves to a stronger level,” he said.

Ten more districts have been added to the existing nine (9) to widen football presence and growth in every sector of the region.

Out of the nineteen, 12 unopposed DFAs penned their signatures to take the Oath of Office and the Oath of Confidentiality as part of their solemn commitment to serve in their respective capacities.

DFA chairmen from Krachi West, Akatsi North, and South Districts were absent at the event. The Regional FA will swear them into office in the coming days.

However, three district FAs, namely South Tongu, Ho, Municipal, and Keta Municipal, are in contention for the chairmanship.

The Regional FA has thus assigned the Secretaries of the districts to continue work until a favourable date is determined by the Ghana Football Association for elections to be conducted.

Present at the ceremony were notable DFA chairmen, Mr. Atsu Kuadey, who is the chairman of the Central Tongu District, Mr. Caesar Heh, Chairman of Biokoye District, Awalime Dennis of Kpando Municipal; and Mr. Barson Foli of Ketu South Municipal.

The newly formed Districts FA’s are Ketu North, Keta Municipal, Anlo District, Akatsi North, and Adaklu Districts.

The rest are Nkwanta North, Nkwanta South, Hohoe Municipal, South Dayi, and Agortime Ziope.

As required by the statutes of the GFA, two DFAs would join the Executive Council of the Regional FA. The chairmen collectively agreed to maintain Mr. Caesar Heh and Mr. Atsu Kuadey, who previously represented them.

The two will join other Executive Council members to assist in the governance of football in the Volta Region.
