The latest FIFA rankings released in February 2024 have seen Ghana drop to 67th place.
The four-time African Champions have been affected by this slip based on their performance in major tournaments.
The fall in the world ranking also affected the Black Stars position on the CAF rankings, as they fell from 11th to 14th. The new sit for Ghana on the CAF rankings lifts countries like DR Congo, Cape Verde, and South Africa above them.
The rankings took effect following the recent Africa Cup of Nations, which was staged in Côte d’Ivoire. Ghana performed abysmal at the AFCON, with the team failing to record a victory in their three group stage matches played against Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.
After a wonderful display in the 2023 AFCON, Côte d’Ivoire pushed themselves up to 39th position in the world and 5th on the CAF rankings, while the second-place team at the 2023 AFCON, Nigeria, finished 28th in the world and 3rd in Africa.
Notable countries like Morocco and Senegal maintained their top spots in the rankings, as they finished first and second, respectively, on the CAF rankings and 12th and 17th on the FIFA rankings.
