The Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) has commenced a three day regulatory monitoring exercise to investigate the persistent power fluctuation challenges at the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), treatment plants.
This follows an official report launched by GWCL to the Commission concerning fluctuations at its headworks at Dalun and Yendi in the Northern region and Salaga in the Savannah Region.
According to the report, GWCL mentioned that the situation has affected the daily production of treated water for the consuming public and has impacted negatively on the Company’s critical equipment, such as starters, variable-frequency drives, and pumps, among others.
To this end, the GWCL has called on the Commission to intervene to ascertain first hand information about the situation. The outcome of the 3 day monitoring exercise is expected to help the Commission and the Service Provider come up with the best recommendations to resolve the supply challenges.
Meanwhile, the Northern Electricity Distribution Company Ltd., NEDCo, has informed its cherished customers and the public that the company will undertake Phase Five of the general revenue mobilisation exercise across its operational areas effective Monday, February 26, 2024.
NEDCo is therefore urging the public to cooperate during the exercise.
