President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has emphasized that government is engaged in deliberate planning to ensure the safety and security of the country.
He stated that Ghana has remained unaffected by the extremism witnessed in neighboring countries due to proper planning.
During the delivery of the State of the Nation Address on Tuesday, February 27, President Akufo-Addo highlighted that the armed forces and all security agencies have been adequately resourced, with their welfare prioritized.
“Mr. Speaker, the peace and security we enjoy in our country have not occurred by chance. It has required deliberate policy and planning on the part of the government, as well as a great deal of hard work and dedication from our security services to keep our country safe and secure,” he affirmed.
President Akufo-Addo noted that since the New Patriotic Party came into office, there has been a significant expansion of the Armed Forces and other security agencies.
“The accommodation and overall physical environment of the security agencies are being improved,” he added.
Emphasizing their commitment, President Akufo-Addo highlighted that they have accelerated the pace of retooling and equipping the security agencies to ensure readiness in the face of emerging security threats.
