Parliament vets five persons for various Ministerial positions

The Appointment Committee of Parliament has begun its public hearing to vet five substantive Ministers designated for various Ministries following the recently announced ministerial reshuffle by the President.

According to the programme for consideration of nominees, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, MP for Secondi and Minister designate for Tourism, Arts and Culture, was the first to appear before the committee and answer a series of questions, including Accra Marine Drive and his intentions to revamp nationwide tourist sites to attract investment:

Lydia Seyram Alhassan, MP for Ayawaso West Wuagon, is the Minister Designate for Sanitation and Water Resources, to be followed by Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, MP for Techiman South, and the Minister Designate for Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development.

The rest are: Ophelia Mensah Hayford MP for Mfantseman Minister designate for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; and last but not least, day one, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, will be the Dakoa Newman MP for Okaikwei South for Gender, Children and Social Protection.
