The National Communications Authority (NCA) has given the green light to Space X Starlink GH LTD, the operator of Starlink Satellite Broadband, to provide satellite broadband services in Ghana.
The approval of the application follows the policy approval of the Satellite Licensing Framework in Ghana by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation.
Starlink, owned by SpaceX, operates a network of low-Earth orbit satellites that transmit signals from satellite to satellite and ground stations to provide high-speed broadband internet services.
Although Space X Starlink GH LTD, is not licensed in Ghana, NCA, in a statement approving operations, said the issuance of the license is ongoing and will be completed shortly.
Space X Starlink GH LTD is currently available in seven African countries, including; Mozambique, Eswatini, Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Rwanda, and Nigeria.
Ghana becomes the eighth African country to approve operations.
The operation of Space X Starlink GH LTD is expected significantly improve Ghana’s telecommunications landscape.
