The Custom Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, GRA, has destroyed millions of illicit tobacco at a landfill at Gbalahi in the Tamale metropolis.
The contraband goods were seized from a warehouse at Pulmakom in the Bawku West district of the Upper East Region through an Intelligence that led to the location of the warehouse.
The dozens of boxes of illicit tobacco smuggled into the country are prohibited by law because they do not meet the regulatory requirements and are dangerous to human health.
The substances destroyed include about 60 million sticks of cigarettes and 162 boxes, and some pornographic materials seized in Tamale.
