The National Democratic Congress (NDC), is accusing the Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, of scheming to jail minority Leader, Ato Forson in what has become known as the Ambulance Trial.

“The NDC is deeply scandalised by this clear case of persecution against the Leader of the party’s Caucus in Parliament, who has been at the forefront of our struggle against the misrule of the oppressive and despotic Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP regime,” the party said in a statement signed by its Chairman, Asiedu Nketia.

The party further claimed that the 3rd Accused, Mr. Richard Jakpa, testified in open court that the Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, had had several meetings with him at odd hours and telephone conversations, impressing him to skew his testimony to implicate the Minority Leader.

“It has come to the attention of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that during the proceedings of Thursday, 23rd May, 2024, in the matter of the trial of the Leader of the NDC Minority in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the 3rd Accused, Mr. Richard Jakpa, testified in open court that the Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has had several meetings with him at odd hours and telephone conversations impressing on him to skew his testimony to implicate the Minority Leader.

These are matters of fact that formed part of the court’s record of proceedings today.”

According to the NDC, this revelation confirms legitimate and long-held suspicion of the devious modus operandi of Godfred Dame and the government he represents.

“It further shows the desperate lengths the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government will go to manipulate judicial processes to unjustly victimise political opponents for cheap political goal-scoring.

It also confirms the lack of integrity of the dishonourable Attorney-General and the extent to which he goes to pervert the course of justice.”

The NDC therefore served notice, “Early next week, the party shall hold a full-blown press conference and put out incontrovertible evidence on this matter that will shock the nation. We will stop at nothing in pursuing this matter to its logical conclusion and ensuring that justice is done.”
