NIA Staff suspend strike after directive from National Labour Commission

 The staff of the National Identification Authority, NIA, say their strike which began last Monday, June 10, 2024 is being suspended in view of an engagement on Friday, June 14, 2024 with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission. 

The NIA Staff Union had cited poor conditions of service and government’s delay in concluding negotiations on their allowances as reasons for their industrial action. Yesterday, the National Labour Commission directed the NIA staff to call off their strike. 

Deputy General Secretary of the PSWU John Sampah, comments on the NLC ruling,saying they will  adopt a wait and see attitude. Director of Salaries at Fair Wages Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Cephas Amada spoke of another round of negotiations on Friday, June 14, 2024.

Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority, Professor Ken Attafuah, gave an assurance of addressing the concerns of the workers.
