The Resident Representative of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) Commission in Ghana, Ambassador Baba Gana Wakil, has admonished the youth to take advantage of the advent of digitalization.

According to Amb. Wakil, the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in all sectors of society has become the order of the day; thus, nothing can be done without the application of these technologies.

The Resident Representative of ECOWAS in Ghana, speaking in an interview with GBCGHANAONLINE on the sidelines of a graduation ceremony to award certificates to 150 young men and women who were trained by the commission in software engineering, web design, and mobile applications held at the University of Ghana Business School in Accra, explained that the reason for the decision to embark on the digitalization agenda project is to develop the African youth in that space to be on par with their counterparts in other continents.

“Our youth cannot be left out on this journey because, in today’s world, nothing can happen without the support or use of these new technologies.

Currently, the commission has created a whole unit responsible for its digitalization agenda drive, where training and empowering the youth with this set of self-employed skills form key components,” he added.

Ambassador Wakil, addressing the trainees, admonished them to utilise the opportunity given them well, saying lot of young men and women applied to be part of this training but you had the opportunity to be part and for this purpose you will need to make sure you build yourself up from here.

“I wish to congratulate all of you for going through this intensive training for the past one week. This is just the beginning of your career journey, so take with you whatever you have learned to ensure your stay here doesn’t go waste. Congratulations once more,” he reiterated.
