The Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Abdalfatah Alastair, says he is grateful to Ghanaians for what he has described as firm love and support in their struggles as a people.

He made this statement during a car parade through the streets of Accra, which was organized in solidarity with the Palestinian cause in which over thirty-seven thousand people have been killed.

The war in Gaza is said to have wiped out entire Palestinian families since it begun on 7th October 2023. According to the latest data from the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the World Health Organization and the Palestinian government as of June 16, Israeli attacks have destroyed or damaged more than half of Gaza’s homes.

It has killed not less than 37,296 people, 15,000 children, injured in excess of 85,197 people and had more than 10,000 people missing. This has raised concerns as people from different parts of the world have condemned the injustices and atrocities in Gaza. The Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG) has organized a series of demonstrations across the country to condemn the attack and to further strengthen the calls for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“THE CAR PARADE FOR PALESTINE” was part of a “Global Day of Action for Palestine” which started from the Okponglo junction and ended at the hearts of Oak Park in Accra aimed at bringing attention to the incessant bloodshed and the urgent need for a ceasefire and an end to the suffering in Gaza.

Addressing the media during the solidarity campaign in support of Palestine in Accra, The Palestine Ambassador Mr. Abdalfatah Alasttari, expressed joy for the support Palestine has enjoyed from Ghanaians. Mr. Abdalfatah Alsattari, also used the Eid-ul-Adha celebration to distribute meat and food items to more than 300 people living within the Embassy’s vicinity.

The gesture was in commemoration of the festive occasion observed by Muslims around the world. It was also to celebrate the friendship and bond between the State of Palestine and Ghana and to appreciate Ghana for its continuous support to the State of Palestine particularly in the time of war and difficulties.
