The leader of the Movement for Change party, Alan Kyerematen has expressed his bold initiative to combine the Ministry of Finance with Trade and Industry once he is voted into office coming December.

The former Minister of Trade and Industry stated that, as part of his plans for office, he will combine the two ministries because it will be difficult to move the economy forward if there isn’t a strong connection between finance and trade and industry.

The Movement for Change leader emphasized the fact that he had been Minister of Trade and Industry twice before under former President Kufour’s administration so he knows the connection between the ministries.

According to Alan Kyerematen, he does not have a manifesto but rather a plan because he believes manifestos are only a statement of intent which do not provide enough detail, only revealing what the candidate intends to do but not how he will execute it.

He stressed on the GTV Breakfast show that, one of his plans therefore is to combine the Ministry of Finance and Trade and Industry because he believes that the way forward is to reduce the size of government.

“My proposal is to combine the Ministry of Finance and Trade and Industry,” Kyerematen asserted, underscoring his commitment to enhancing governmental effectiveness through structural reform.
