The Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC), has initiated an extensive campaign in the Northern Region to address the dangers of illegal utility connections.
This initiative aims to curb the rising number of illegal connections, improve the financial health of utility providers, and contribute to national development.
Alarmed by the surge in illegal connections, the PURC is engaging public service agents and agencies across the region to educate them on the adverse effects of these illegal activities. The campaign emphasised how illegal connections undermine the organisation and society, degrade the quality of utility service delivery, and negatively impact the overall system.
Through this exercise, the PURC seeks to ensure that consumers of electricity and water in the region understand the repercussions of illegal connections. By raising awareness, the commission hopes to encourage regular bill payments and foster a more sustainable and efficient utility service environment in the Northern Region.
