Sade Dada, Public Policy Manager for Anglophone West Africa at Meta, has formally notified the Ministry of Information about the company’s plans to monetize its expanded features for content creators in Ghana.

This move will enable creators to earn a share of revenue from Facebook’s in-stream ads, as well as ads placed on their reels on Facebook, with plans to expand monetization features on Instagram later this year.

To be eligible, content creators must comply with Meta’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies, which have stricter guidelines than community standards.

Advertisers must also adhere to Meta’s advertising standards, designed to protect users from poor experiences and foster meaningful connections between people and businesses.

The monetization of content in Ghana aims to empower local content creators to earn money from their online content and access advanced features to manage their businesses online. This expansion is a significant milestone that will help Ghanaian content creators leverage their online presence, build their brands, and contribute to the growth of the country’s digital economy.

The Ministry of Information commended Meta for this investment in Ghana’s digital future and looks forward to continued collaboration to promote digital innovation and entrepreneurship.

The expansion is expected to create new opportunities for Ghana’s talented creators and support the growth of the digital economy.
