The Minority in Parliament says the continuous stay in office of the members of the SSNIT Board, the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), and the Minister of Employment is no longer tenable, and they must all resign for serving as accomplices in the state capture of 60 percent SSNIT shares in four hotels and for failing to protect the interests of Ghanaian workers.
This is contained in a statement signed by the minority leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson. The Minority is, meanwhile, asking the government to put finality to the intended sale of the 60 percent shares in the SSNIT hotels.
The caucus said it is not sufficient because the Agric Minister has withdrawn his bid after pressure from organised labour. The Minority said the message is clear, that the NDC, organised labour, and other interest groups oppose the transaction.
The caucus said that until the government comes clear that it has stopped the sale of the 60 percent SSNIT shares in the hotels, the minority Caucus will no longer cooperate with the government in the handling of government business in Parliament.
The Caucus further states that if, by the close of Tuesday, 16th July, 2024 government fails to come clear on the matter, it will escalate its non-cooperation to include measures such as demonstrations across Ghana.
