Ghana’s swimmer Harry Stacey has ended his Olympic dream after making a time of 51.12 to finish 7th in Heat 4 of the men’s 100m Freestyle event. The national record holder with the time of 57.50 was the 4th to dive into the water but was unable to recover leading to a disappointing finish.

The feat disqualifies him from progressing to the semi-finals as he fell short of the 16 fastest athletes in the heat competition.

Stacey who is making his debut appearance at the Olympics expresses his disappointment after the race.

“It wasn’t the best. The time was a bit disappointing but the whole experience was amazing.” This is my first time at the Olympics and the whole thing has been new and new experience. Definitely building blocks for the future and looking to come back for the next Olympics to make way there”

Overall, 79 swimmers competed with just 16 advancing to the next stage of the competition.

With Harry Stacey out of the championship, Ghana is left with Joselle Mensah for the Women’s 50m Freestyle swim.
