Renowned Ghanaian businessman and Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group, Daniel McKorley, has made a firm declaration regarding his stance on the Ghana Premier League. In a recent interview with Accra based Asempa FM, the business Mogul expressed his concerns over the league’s persistent gambling controversies, which have deterred him from providing financial support.

During the interview, Mr Daniel McKorley candidly stated, “I would’ve sponsored Ghana Premier League, but the gambling is too much.”

His remarks highlight a significant issue that has plagued the league for some time. According to Mr McKorley, the gambling activities associated with the league have overshadowed its potential for growth and development.

Mr McKorley’s comments further emphasized the adverse effects of gambling on the players and the overall integrity of the league. He pointed out that the rampant gambling is a major reason why the players fail to progress to higher levels in their careers. “That’s why your players don’t go anywhere,” he remarked, suggesting that the gambling culture needs to be addressed for the betterment of Ghanaian football.

In his appeal, Mr McKorley urged stakeholders to take necessary actions to cleanse the league from gambling influences. “Let’s try and sanitise the Ghana Football,” he added, calling for a collective effort to restore the league’s reputation and create a conducive environment for talent development.

McKorley’s stance on the issue has sparked discussions among football fans and analysts. Many are curious about the potential changes that could arise if his call for sanitization is heeded, and whether it will lead to a more transparent and successful Ghana Premier League in the future.
