There is also the need to guard against biases, misinformation, disinformation, and erosion of public trust for the media.
The Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, who stated these, asked journalists not to compromise on reporting factually and accurately, when integrating the use of AI in their activities.
Speaking at the GJA’s 75th Anniversary commemorative lecture in Accra, Madam Abubakar, reiterated the need for journalists to be equipped with knowledge and skills to use the AI technology responsibly.
The use of Artificial Intelligence has a huge prospect for the world. For Journalists, it has the potential to boost efficiency and facilitate audience engagement, depending on how it is being approached. This therefore requires adequate training and skill development in its use to minimize the disadvantages of the AI technology.

The Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, said the future of journalism will depend on the ability of media organizations to adopt new technologies to remain competitive, while advancing in training and the provision of necessary tools for the use of AI.
In this regard, the Ministry remains committed to collaborating with the GJA to equip journalists with the skills and resources to navigate modern journalism.
President of the GJA, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, said, the Association will name and shame practitioners violating the journalism ethics. Those who uphold the professional standards will be celebrated.
The General Manager of ECG, in Charge of External Communications, Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, highlighted some technological tools to enhance the work of journalists.
