Former chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and daughter of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Samia Nkrumah, has revealed that she was invited by Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, to be his running mate in the upcoming presidential election. However, Samia disclosed that she turned down the offer.

In an interview on Starr FM, Samia confirmed the rumors surrounding the proposal.

“Yes, Cheddar did approach me. But I told him that I’ve invested too much in Jomoro. And I believe the Nkrumahist tradition must be represented in Parliament, in our decision making” – She added.

Samia’s decision to decline the offer stems from her deep commitment to her constituency, Jomoro, and her dedication to ensuring that the ideals of her father, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, continue to be represented in the political landscape of Ghana.

Her investment in Jomoro, she believes, is crucial for maintaining the Nkrumahist tradition within the nation’s governance.

Cheddar, the Presidential candidate of the New Force Movement, is known for his innovative ideas and charismatic leadership.

His approach to Samia as a potential running mate indicates his desire to create a dynamic and diverse leadership team. Nevertheless, Samia’s refusal highlights her unwavering dedication to her own political path and the legacy she upholds.
