The Paramount Chief of Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, has expressed concerns about the community’s readiness to support sports development initiatives in the region.
Togbe Afede highlighted the challenges of establishing sports facilities and programs in Ho due to the unpreparedness of the communities.
He emphasized the need for readiness and willingness among the people to support and participate in the sports business, stating that it is a tough endeavor that requires commitment.
Speaking at the 2024 Asogli State Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Day at the GM Afeti Auditorium, Ho Technical University, as part of the Asogli State Yam festival celebration, Togbe Afede XIV stressed the importance of having enough interest and dedication from the community to make sports initiatives worthwhile.
He mentioned the potential establishment of a sports academy in the region but emphasized that the readiness and commitment of the people were crucial for its success.
The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli state further encouraged young people to work harder to achieve their sports goals.
“If I were a sportsman I would work like crazy, I would aim to be a Ronaldo or Messi, they earn high per annum, so the question is are we ready to take up the challenge?”
“If somebody comes here to invest in a sports facility it’s not easy but these things will be considered. I’ve been thinking about how one can build an academy here,” he said.
“It is not easy to break even not alone to break through and make a profit from some of these projects. We need to be inspired by the readiness of our people to seize opportunities like that with both hands” He stated.
The Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Day was aimed at empowering young people and promoting entrepreneurship in the region. It brought together well-established and Inspiring speakers to help shape the career path of young individuals.
