The Ghana Water Limited (Central Region) has provided an update on the current water supply situation in Cape Coast, Elmina, and surrounding communities, as efforts to improve water quality and production yield positive results.

Due to the high turbidity levels at the Sekyere Hemang Water Treatment Plant, the quality of raw water has been a concern for residents.

However, recent efforts by the Central Regional Security Council, led by Hon. Minister Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, have successfully reduced turbidity levels from an average of 14,000 NTU to 9,000 NTU.

As a result, water production has increased significantly, from approximately 1.98 million gallons per day to over 2.77 million gallons per day. Ghana Water Limited assures customers in Cape Coast, Elmina, and nearby areas that they are working diligently to meet the communities’ water needs and will continue to monitor and improve the raw water quality.

Ghana Water also acknowledges the Central Regional Security Council’s support and urged customers to exercise restraint while the situation is being worked on.
