A renowned Forensic Psychiatry Specialist, John Kuuku Dzane, has called out the Advisors of President Akufo-Addo for neglecting their roles in the fight against the illegal mining menace destroying the lands and water bodies in the country.
“ Who are the people who advise him? At any given time the president has too many calls and too many issues around him. So the people who make sure the country is running are those around him, his kitchen cabinets”, he said.
He made this statement during GTV’s Breakfast Show on October 8,2024. He expressed that, it is the people in the President’s inner circle who are to assist and advice him on the procedures and measures to take in order to curb the rising galamsey menace but it appears they are not acting accordingly.
According to Mr. Dzane, it is crucial for those close to the president to explore alternative strategies when addressing critical national issues. Describing the president’s approach to resolving the crisis as akin to a king whose ears are closed while on the throne, Mr. Dzane warned that the lack of decisive action on galamsey could fracture the ruling party, NPP.
He highlighted the public’s discontent evident on social media as a reflection of the growing dissatisfaction towards the government’s handling of the environmental issue.
