Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has taken a new job as head of football operations at Red Bull, a company that owns clubs like Leipzig, Salzburg, and New York. Klopp left Liverpool after nine years, where he helped the club win the Premier League and Champions League.

He surprised fans when he announced his departure in January, saying he was tired from the job.

His new position with Red Bull won’t involve coaching, but instead, he will focus on bigger strategic decisions.

The company explained that Klopp won’t be involved in the daily running of the clubs, but will act in a more senior role. Klopp said he sees himself as a mentor for the coaches and leaders of Red Bull’s teams and is excited to take on this new challenge after spending nearly 25 years coaching.

He will officially start on January 1, 2025, and his contract reportedly has an option to leave if he’s offered the role of manager for Germany’s national team. Klopp currently lives in Majorca, Spain, and is still a sponsor for Adidas.
