The National Paralympic Committee, NPC of Ghana has re-elected incumbent Sampson Deen to lead the Association for another four years.
At their elective General Assembly which took place at Accra Digital Centre, Mr Sampson Deen who also doubles as the African Paralympic committee was elected unopposed.
The elective general assembly which was under theme “Effective and Efficient Leadership Key to Development and Promotion of Para-Sports” had the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Evans Bobie Opoku representing the sector minister, board members and representative from the other twenty one Para-sports.
In his welcome address, Mr Deen said the gathering is in best interest of the NPC and shows how transparent the NPC has been runed since his administration took over in 2019.
He praised the ministry of youth and sports for the support the NPC has enjoyed in this four year term.
Delivering the keynote address Mr Evans Bobie Opoku commended the Leadership of the NPC for their contribution in bringing the Paral family together.
He praised the NPC president for his sterling leadership qualities and his contribution tor the Para committee and the glory he has brought to the nation and also his role as president of the African Paralympic Committee.
The minister further congratulated the leadership for ensuring growth and expansion of the para sports. He charged the newly elected executives to work hard to unit the NPC to do exploit for the nation.
In his speech after their sworing in, Mr Sampson Deen charged the newly elected executives to work hard to qualify more athletes to the next Paralympic games in Los Angeles.
He admonished the executives made up of Evans Yeboah – vice president, Henry K. N. Larbi, secretary general, Richard Kipo Tunnor as the treasurer.
Other Executives members are Ayishatu Farida Iddriss, Foster Kwateng, Mary Apedo, and Anthony Gyening.
He charged them to be honest and open in their dealings with the various associations under the NPC to lift Ghana para sports to a new height.
Mr Deen thanked the immediate past executives for their efforts in helping the NPC achieve its aim in his first year in office.
He further stated that the new board will focus on ensuring that more women are drawn into the Paralympic games hence, the appointment of Madam Anne Doe as the chairperson of Women Para Sports.
In order to enhance the flow of information to the media from NPC, Sadiq Adam was appointed the media representative on the board of the NPC.
Out of the twenty one associations under the National Paralympic Committee, seventeen where present at the General Assembly.
