Ghanaian footballer Kwabena Owusu has sparked a conversation about the underlying issues plaguing Ghana’s football scene, and he believes that Ghana’s football woes have got to do with those at the corridors of the game and the players.
Owusu expressed that the blame often placed on players is misplaced. “I know people are frustrated and blame the players; the truth must be told; the problem has to do with the leaders. With all due respect,” he stated.
Having showcased his talents at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt and for Ghana’s U-23 team, the Black Meteors, Owusu is no stranger to the pressures and expectations of international football. His experiences have given him a unique perspective on the inner workings of the sport in Ghana.
The footballer’s remark has ignited discussions among football fans in Ghana who are now questioning the effectiveness of the current leadership.
There is a growing curiosity about what specific changes could be implemented to rejuvenate Ghanaian football.
