The Black Stars of Ghana have almost nothing to fight for in the 2025 AFCON campaign as another depressing day this time in Libya left them empty-handed.

Two second-half goals conceded in the attacking torrents of Sudan shot the stars down to reality the current team is not up to the task.

Ghana, struggling match after match with poor run of results had already put the fans in no doubt about its bleak prospects in all competitions. What’s more, the continual flickering lights on the stars highlighted what appeared to be the faking of their strengths until time exposed their true character.

The present crop of players in their unheroic backfooting has allowed time-honoured records for Ghana to be smashed by unsung sides. Sudan has just put the icing on the cake of Niger and Angola which took advantage of the sleepy Ghana team to take their pounds of flesh, having suffered at their hands throughout soccer history.

The blunt Black Stars lacked the firepower upfront made worse by some amateurish defending at the back. With these, the naysayers had never fallen for the meretricious Black Stars until its frothy bubbles were stamped out in Tripoli on Tuesday, 15 October 2024.
