Ghanaian defender Joseph Aidoo shared his feelings after finally returning to competitive football following a long injury break. The 29-year-old Celta Vigo player was out for nearly a year due to a torn Achilles tendon, which he suffered in a friendly game against Mexico in October 2023.
After surgery and a tough recovery process, Aidoo made his comeback in September 2024, almost a year later. He played briefly, coming on in the 89th minute during Celta Vigo’s 3-1 win over Real Valladolid in La Liga, marking an important moment in his career.
“It was nice and emotional, “Being out for almost a year, then being back on the field, hearing the fans cheer, and getting a win—it was wonderful.”
Aidoo’s absence was noticeable, as he also missed major events like the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. His return is not only a personal achievement but also a positive sign for his team as they aim to do well in the league.
