In a recent interview on Akoma 87.9 FM, Alhaji Karim Grusah, a prominent figure in Ghanaian football, has thrown his weight behind the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo, in a bold call for the impeachment of Kurt E.S. Okraku, the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Grusah’s support adds a significant voice to the growing discontent surrounding Okraku’s leadership, which Alhaji Grusah has characterised as autocratic.

Grusah did not mince words in his critique of Okraku’s leadership style, describing it as autocratic and stifling to the executive committee members. According to Grusah, Okraku’s approach has been more about personal gain than the collective growth of Ghanaian football. “Kurt Okraku is an autocratic leader who does not allow other members of the exco to speak; he simply came to sell his players, not to grow the game,” Grusah asserted.

The call for impeachment by Fianoo, now backed by Grusah, underscores a significant rift within the Ghanaian football community. It raises questions about the effectiveness of Okraku’s leadership and the impact it has had on the sport’s development in the country. Grusah’s public declaration of support for Fianoo is likely to galvanise other stakeholders who share similar concerns, potentially leading to a more unified front in demanding accountability and change at the top of the GFA.

Moreover, Grusah’s warning to those who might threaten Fianoo demonstrates the seriousness of the situation and the lengths to which he is willing to go to ensure that the call for impeachment is taken seriously. “I support what Fianoo said, and if anyone at Ghalca threatens him, they will hear from me,” Grusah stated emphatically. This statement not only reinforces his commitment to the cause but also serves as a protective measure for Fianoo, who has taken a bold stance against the current GFA leadership.
