A flight headed for Benghazi had to turn back, leaving the game between Libya and Nigeria unplayed. This led to a lot of speculation among fans in both countries.

After reviewing the situation, the CAF Disciplinary Board found that the Libyan Football Federation violated several rules, including Article 31 of the Africa Cup of Nations Regulations and Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.

As a result, CAF quickly decided to award a 3-0 victory to Nigeria and fined the Libyan Football Federation $50,000, which must be paid within 60 days.

Nigeria had previously won the first leg 1-0 thanks to a late goal by substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. This decision now boosts Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the tournament in Morocco.
