The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, shared his vision with young Ghanaians, promising to lead a government that empowers youth to be a positive force for change.
He believes this vision is key to Ghana’s peace and democratic growth.
Dr. Bawumia, in his address on job creation with the Ghanaian youth on the 3rd of November 2024, stressed that job creation would be a priority if he is given the mandate as President, highlighting his government’s awareness of the need for sustainable and decent jobs.
Since taking office, he said, the NPP has focused on expanding educational opportunities to prepare the youth for the future.
A major example is the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, which has already helped 5.7 million students. According to him, this policy allows many young Ghanaians to stay in school and build skills, even if they face financial difficulties.
The flagbearer also discussed Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which his government has made free.
He called this the largest investment in TVET in Ghana since independence. With this policy, he aims to equip young Ghanaians with practical skills for industrial jobs and prepare them for the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education is part of this plan.
If elected, he promised to build on these educational reforms. He pledged to increase student housing at universities and other public institutions to meet growing demand, saying that improving housing is part of his commitment to expanding access to higher education.
The NPP flagbearer’s goal is to develop a skilled and prepared workforce, ready to drive the nation’s progress and fulfil the needs of modern industries.
