West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has made his inaugural visit to Ghana, arriving at Kotoka International Airport on Sunday, November 10. The 34-year-old football star is in the country to lend his support to the Samba Football Academy, a project close to his heart. Upon his arrival, Antonio was warmly welcomed by the Ghanaian Hammers, a dedicated West Ham fan group based in Ghana.

His visit marks a significant moment for the academy and the local football community, as Antonio aims to inspire and uplift young talents from underprivileged backgrounds.

Antonio’s journey will take him to Bompata in Kumasi, where he will inspect the ongoing football academy project. His involvement in the academy highlights his commitment to nurturing young talents and providing them with opportunities to excel in football. During his stay, Antonio plans to engage with the players at the Samba Stars Academy, sharing his experiences and insights with aspiring footballers. In a media briefing, Antonio expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I’ve come here to do my work. We’ve started an academy here in Kumasi, Bompata.”

He acknowledged the immense pool of talent in Ghana, referencing the success of players like Mo Kudus, who currently plays for West Ham. Antonio’s vision is to provide a platform for Ghanaian talents to reach their full potential, offering them opportunities to play football internationally.
