The Electoral Commission (EC), has recalled both presidential and parliamentary ballot papers for the Ahafo and Volta regions after detecting some anomalies with regard to serial numbers on the papers.
The Deputy Chairman of the Commission in charge of operations, Samuel Tettey, addressing representatives of political parties at an IPAC meeting in Accra, said a new contract has been awarded to Bulk Press to begin the printing for the Ahafo region, while Act Commercial has been mandated to print for the Volta region.
Mr. Tettey said the Commission is also scaling up to release the new printing timetable for these regions to political parties and stakeholders.
He indicated that the recalled papers will be destroyed under the supervision of party agents and the security service.
The Deputy Director of Elections and IT of the NDC, Dr Rashid Tanko Computer, said the decision by the EC is in order, adding that the party is in full support.
The National Director of Research and Elections of the NPP, Evans Nimako, said that as much as the NPP supports the decision, the party will ensure that the recalled papers are properly dealt with to avoid doubts.
