A two-week specialised training programme for Anglophone broadcasters and content creators has officially opened in Cairo, Egypt.
The event, organised by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, Training and Media Studies, in its 12th edition brought together 12 media professionals from across the African continent, including broadcasters, bloggers, and journalists.
The training programme is aimed at equipping participants with the necessary skills to create engaging content across multiple digital platforms. It is also to enhance media professionalism while fostering stronger collaboration among African nations through shared digital media practices.
Addressing the participants at the opening ceremony, a journalist with e3Lam.com in Cairo, Egypt, Mr Mohammed Abdel-rahman, emphasised the importance of adapting to the digital age in order to stay relevant in the fast-paced media world.
He stated, “As journalists, we must recognise that our audiences today have limited time to engage with content. Therefore, it is essential that we are skilled enough to present messages efficiently across various platforms. Journalists should be able to summarise complex stories and apply digital thinking to adapt content to the fast-paced, ever-evolving media landscape.
This approach not only helps in reaching a wider audience but also ensures our stories are impactful and accessible.”
Throughout the opening session, participants explored topics like effective content creation for digital platforms, the importance of repurposing content for different media formats, and how to engage diverse audiences through innovative storytelling techniques, marketing, photography, podcasts, and voiceovers.
Through this training, participants will not only enhance their media capabilities but also strengthen relationships and partnerships among African media practitioners.
