The management and staff of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s (GBC) Volta Star Radio, in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region, have launched the “Clean Ho for Peace” initiative. The campaign aims to promote environmental cleanliness in the municipality while emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace during the upcoming December 7 elections.

The initiative kicked off with a cleanup exercise that brought together personnel from the Ghana Prisons Service, traditional authorities, members of the community, and staff of GBC’s Volta Star Radio as well as personnel from Zoomlion waste management. Participants cleared gutters, swept streets, and removed waste from public spaces, symbolizing the collective effort needed to ensure both physical and social harmony.

The Volta Regional Director of GBC, Franklin Agbenyo, expressed his excitement about the project and its dual focus. “This initiative is not just about keeping our city clean; it’s about sending a strong message that cleanliness and peace go hand in hand. A clean environment fosters a sense of community, and as we approach the elections, it’s important for all of us to come together, irrespective of our differences, to maintain peace,” he said.

He added, “Volta Star Radio is committed to using its platform to educate and mobilize the public. Peace is the foundation of development, and we believe that starting with a clean environment can inspire clean and peaceful interactions among citizens.”
